Cleaning Your Floors and Maintaining a Healthy Environment

The key to maintaining attractive looking floors and achieving a safe, clean environment, includes:

• Choosing an appropriate maintenance program for the space
• Using the right cleaning products and equipment

Unlike carpet and other textiles, cleaning with detergent and water is usually adequate for nonporous surfaces such as vinyl flooring. Thorough cleaning renders most of these surfaces, including vinyl flooring, free of infection risk.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak and increased emphasis on disinfecting practices in the ramp up to reopening businesses nationwide, the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) issued general recommendations for cleaning and disinfection.

We encourage business owners and maintenance staff maintaining Aspecta luxury vinyl flooring to familiarize themselves with the CDC’s recommendations for disinfecting their workplaces.

You may also wish to review the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) list of disinfectants for use against SARS-CoV-2. All products on this list meet EPA’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

The CDC and EPA guidelines are meant for the general public and do not take into consideration all material types to be cleaned, such as vinyl floor coverings. The use of disinfectants should only be utilized when necessary and on environmental surfaces where potential risks have been identified.

Follow the disinfectant manufacturer’s instructions and test cleaners and disinfectants in a small, inconspicuous area before using across the entirety of your flooring.
